La Casa Lis looks fabulous when illuminated at night.  It's a town house built on the ancient city walls at the end of the 19th centry in modernista style, which is rarely seen in this part of Spain.  It was renovated in the 80's and now houses the wonderful Museo Art Nouveau Y Art Deco.  This contains many gorgeous glass and porcelain works, a collection of dolls and modern paintings by artists such as Federico Beltrán Massés, Modesto Teixidor, Josep María Tamburini, Olga Sacharoff and Celso Lagar.

The cafe is beautiful, relaxing and inexpensive.  It's a good place to do my homework.  I'm spending a week on an intensive morning course in Spanish at Estudio Sampere, and can thoroughly recommend this school.   http://www.sampere.com/

Thanks in particular for the tour 'Writers of Salamanca' , which inspires my next blog.
